Douglas- Caroline (Fontaine) Salatiello, 93, of Caswell Ct. passed away Thurs. Feb. 7, 2019 at Milford Regional Hospital after an illness. Her husband of 66 years Joseph T. Salatiello died Oct. 30, 2013.
        She is survived by a son Dennis A. “Skip” Salatiello of Douglas; a grandson Anthony “Tony” Salatiello of Kennesaw, GA; 2 great-grandchildren Mia Sue Salatiello and Christian Anthony Salatiello; and several nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Mary Heintz, Thomas Fontaine, and Barbara Talbot. Born in Douglas, MA on Jan. 25, 1926, she was the daughter of Roland and Stella (Jonkowski) Fontaine and lived here all her life.
        Mrs. Salatiello worked in the Payroll Dept. at the former Hayward Schuster Woolen Co. in Douglas. Previously she worked for the former Whitin Machine Works in the Machine Accounting and Research Dept. She was a graduate of Douglas Memorial High School and Becker Jr. College. A member of the Douglas Historical Society, she was also a lifelong member of St. Denis Church, and belonged to their St. Anne’s Society and the Catholic Women’s Council, where she was a past president.
        Her funeral will be held on Thurs. Feb. 14 at 10:30 am in St. Denis Church, 23 Manchaug St., Douglas. Burial will follow in St. Denis Cemetery. A calling hour at Jackman Funeral Home, 7 Mechanic St. will be held prior to Mass from 9 to 10am.
