Whitinsville- Alice (Santoian) Ovian, 81, previously of Jon Circle passed away on Sat. April 30, 2016 at St. Camillus Health Ctr. after a brief illness. Her husband of 45 years, Edward Ovian died in 2006. She is survived by her son Edward L. Ovian and his wife Wendy of Ravena, OH, her daughter Carrie L. Smith and her husband Ross of Douglas; 5 grandchildren Shelby, Cole, and Sarah Ovian and Justin and Nathan Smith. Born in Worcester, MA on March 29, 1935 she was the daughter of Azarig and Sarah (Bedrosian) Santoian and lived in Worcester until getting married and starting her family in Whitinsville.
Alice was a graduate of Commerce High School in Worcester and went on to the Boston Conservatory of Music. She worked as a typist in the Classified Ad. Dept. for the Worcester Telegram and later as a sales clerk for the former Fair Dept. Store in Whitinsville.
She enjoyed playing cards and word puzzles. Family was of the utmost importance to her and she enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and anyone who walked through the door. She was an avid Red Sox fan. Alice was a member of the Soorp Asdvadzadzin Armenian Apostolic Church and was a member of their Ladies Guild. She will be sadly missed by all who came to know her. Her funeral will be held on Thurs. May 5 from Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville with a Mass at 10 a.m. in the Soorp Asdvadzadzin Armenian Church, 315 Church St., Whitinsville. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Wed.
