N. Uxbridge - Dominic J. “Doc” Pillarella, 93, passed away at Christopher House in Worcester on Sat. Dec. 12 after an illness.  His wife of 51 years, Caroline C. “Kay”(Ezzo) Pillarella passed away in 1997.  He is survived by his son Joseph Pillarella and his wife Kathleen of Glendale, AZ; a daughter LuAnn Hogan of Westerly, RI; 3 grandchildren, Timothy Hogan and his wife Jacqueline of Westerly, RI, Katherine Cannon and her companion Nelson Quinoes of Worcester, and John Pillarella and his wife Tatiano of Surprise, AZ; 4 great grandchildren Gia, Sarah, Dominic and Caroline; many nieces and nephews, and his extended family in Barre and Hardwick.  He was predeceased by 5 brothers Henry Pillarella, Albert Pillarella, Fini Pillarella, Belfro Pillarella, and Celio Pillarella; and 4 sisters Degna Tuscino, Flora Cimino, Nina Atkins, and Rose Powers.  Born in Milford on July 4, 1922 he was the son of Giuseppe and Filomena (Tosches) Pillarella, was raised in Milford and lived in N. Uxbridge many years.
     Mr. Pillarella worked for the Uxbridge Public School system as a custodian and bus driver for 20 years, retiring when he was 70. Previously he worked for Milford Shoe and Stride Rite Shoe in Boston.  He was a U.S. Army during WWII veteran, serving in the European African Middle-Eastern Theater as a PFC where he received the Purple Heart.
     An avid fan of Boston area teams, he loved spending time in Aruba, Las Vegas and Foxwoods.  He was a member of the N. Uxbridge Italian-American Club.  A very family-oriented man he mostly enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  
     His funeral will be held from Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville on Wed. Dec. 16 with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 1 Cross St.  Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Uxbridge.  Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Tues.
