Susan Flamand Obituary

Whitinsville- Susan E. (Doane) Flamand, 77, passed away peacefully on March 20th, 2024, surrounded by her adoring family. She has embarked on her journey to reunite with her beloved sister Sandy (Doane) Young, where they shall celebrate eternal love and light together.

Sue, known affectionately as wife, mother, nana, daughter, sister, cousin, and friend, spent her formative years in Rochdale, a village in Leicester, MA. She was the cherished middle child of Catherine (Mills) and Ray H. Doane.

Left to cherish her memory is her devoted husband, soulmate, and best friend, Edward Charles Flamand of Northbridge. Sue's pride and joy were her children and grandchildren: Rick Flamand of Wilton Manor, FL, and Christine Martellio and her husband Robert of Uxbridge and their children Alexander, and Morgan Martellio also of Uxbridge. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Linda Doane, as well as her in-laws, David and Linda Flamand, Larry Flamand, and Daniel and Maureen Flamand. Sue was loved by countless nieces, nephews, and friends.

Sue was a beacon of love and admiration for all who knew her. Susan worked many years in sales at the Riverdale Mills and previously as a payroll agent for Automatic Data Processing, and was an Office Manager for Prime Materials in Uxbridge, where she worked until her retirement in 2007. A woman of great faith, she was a former parishioner of St. Peters church where she took on the role of Master Catechist for several years. Most recently she was a parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church.

An avid reader with a penchant for laughter, song, and adventure, she was the glue that held everyone together. She enjoyed annual July family vacations at Lake George, and spending long weekends on Cape Cod. Sue's nurturing spirit ensured that everyone felt included and special. She orchestrated gatherings and radiated love that brought everyone closer.

Above all titles, Sue treasured being called "Nana." Her love for her role as a mother and grandmother knew no bounds. To those closest to her, she was not just a matriarch but also a cherished confidant and best friend. Her absence will be deeply felt, and her memory will be held close to the hearts of those she touched.

Calling hours in Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville will be held on  Mon., March 25th from 5-7 PM. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Tues., March 26th at 11 AM in St. Patrick’s Church, 1 Cross St., Whitinsville, and burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
