DOUGLAS – Doris Marie (Fortier) Enman, 96, passed away on Thurs. Dec. 28, 2017 at St. Camillus Health Center surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her husband Henry A. Enman.

She is survived by her children and their spouses; Skip (Joan) Enman, Betty (Tom) Therrien, Gail (Bob) Carter and Richard Lee Enman; grandchildren, Melanie, Betty-Jo, Tommy, Bobby, Ryan and Kyle and great-grandson Joey. She was also predeceased by siblings Edward, Anna Lariviere, Raymond and Joseph.

Born in Douglas, MA, October 18, 1921, she was daughter of the late Norbert A. and Mary Jane (Gautreau) Fortier and was raised in Douglas. Doris attended Douglas Schools and graduated with the class of 1940.  She went on to be educated in business accounting and held several positions as office manager and bookkeeper over the years.  

After WW II Doris, who loved to dance, met Henry A. Enman at the Saturday night dances held in the Douglas Town Hall.  They were married on August 30, 1947.  They moved to Florida to raise their family in the early 1950’s and returned to Douglas in 1968.  After retirement Doris and Hank spent their time traveling around the U.S. with their camper, trips to the casino with friends and enjoyed trips to other countries as well.

Her funeral Mass will be held from Jackman Funeral Home, 7 Mechanic Street, Douglas on Mon. Jan. 8 at 10 A.M. in St. Denis Church, 23 Manchaug St.,Douglas. Burial will follow in St. Denis Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sun. Jan 7th from 4 to 6 P.M. In Lieu of flowers, donations in Doris's memory may be made to The Activity Fund at St. Camillus Adult Day Health Center, 670 Linwood Ave.,Whitinsville, MA 01588. Dear Betty, Gail and Family,

So sorry to hear your mom has passed. I feel as if I got to know her a bit by all of the FB pics. She seemed like a great lady. What a blessing for you to have had her as your mom. . I know she will be missed. It is never easy to lose a parent no matter when they pass. Our deepest sympathy.
